Family beekeeping in Peoria, Arizona

Honey Hive Farms is a small operation run by Tim and Connie Moore. 17 years in, still hand-bottling every jar.

How we got here

It started as a few backyard hives in Peoria. We liked the bees more than we expected, and the honey was unlike anything we'd tasted at the grocery store. Friends asked for jars. Then friends of friends. Seventeen years later, we're still keeping bees right here in Arizona.

Hive to table, for real

Every jar of Honey Hive Farms honey starts in one of our hives. We extract, settle, and bottle ourselves. We don't blend in cheap imported honey, we don't pasteurize, and we don't pad the label with anything that isn't honey.

Wildflower is our everyday jar. Cactus we only get once a year. Mesquite, orange blossom, alfalfa, and our seasonal Suicide blend round out the lineup.

Beekeeping classes

People kept asking how we do it, so we started teaching. Our hands-on intro class runs out of our backyard apiary in Peoria — six students at a time, suits and gloves provided, real hive inspection.

If you've ever wanted to start a hive, this is the simplest way in.
